Some Of Our Owner’s Perspective After 17+ Years Transforming Robbins Construction Into An Accomplished Memphis Home Remodeling Company

Hi, Donald Robbins here, and I’d like to share a bit about my day to day after 17+ years running Robbins Construction. My my, where has the time gone?

In the beginning, I basically had to do everything: marketing and selling my remodeling and handyman services, going in and doing the work, managing the projects, troubleshooting issues that popped up, and so on.

But project by project, over time the company learned, evolved and grew.

From a few great projects a year to 300+.

Until these days I’m really not on the front lines anymore; not as neck-deep in the action as I once was.

My main priorities these days are managing the company’s resources, ensuring Robbins Construction stays healthy and strong and working with my incredible team of project managers.

I definitely talk to customers a lot in the office, on the phone, and in our Germantown showroom, but I’m not out interacting with homeowners at their properties as much. Honestly, I rarely go to job sites anymore…unless something goes wrong, and that only happens maybe 3 to 5 times a year.

Of course, there are exceptions.

For example, I tend to visit properties after they’re sold and from time to time I need to fill in for one of my project managers. Not because anything went wrong, but because they’re on vacation!

My project managers are an extremely talented and hardworking bunch, so they get time off. Recently I had to step in for one as they took a family vacation to Gulf Shores, Alabama. The project was extensive, but it was nice to really be in the mix again.

  • Stunning New Hardwood Floors

  • And More!

Truth be told, when homeowners follow our process they don’t need to speak to me. The way we progress through a project is almost foolproof. Our process isn’t perfect, but it’s been slowly etched in stone like a trickle of water for nearly twenty years now. And when we combine the experience of my project management team and everyone else involved…I’m usually NOT the most qualified in the room anyway.

We’ve pretty much been through it all and seen it all at this point.

The first few times you remodel a bathroom might be scary, but not the 400th.

The same thing goes with our handyman services — we’ve seen just about everything you can imagine and fixed it.

If you’d like to learn more about our process, feel free to call us or stop by our Germantown showroom. I’m as accessible and approachable as the rest of my team. We look forward to hearing from you and appreciate your time today.
