Our Focus Is Project Management In Home Remodeling Project Management Is Our Specialty And Focus. Here’s Why

Hi, welcome to the Robbins Construction website.

One thing that sets us apart from any other full-service residential remodeling company in the Greater Memphis, TN area is our specific blend of project management.

And whether during projects or in our Germantown showroom, lots of homeowners we work with are curious about it.

Where did this careful, step-by-step, well-organized process come from?

Did it evolve naturally over time?

The answer is a resounding yes.

While our company has always been based on fantastic local service and our Core Values, we’ve made mistakes. We’ve built a near flawless reputation, but it hasn’t been easy.

After 16+ years of remodeling work, we can humbly say we’ve learned from each of our mistakes (especially during our first decade in business).

That said, let’s quickly run through four lessons that dramatically changed how we approach each home remodeling project.

Lesson #1: Help Homeowners Focus On The Journey

For most homeowners, the idea of custom building, remodeling, or renovating a home starts as an abstract idea (often with rough financial guestimations). Sure, there are specific problems to fix and functionalities to add, but they don’t have a crystal-clear idea of how the process will play out.

  • We don’t want any surprises.
  • We don’t want hold-ups and mishaps.
  • We don’t want unrealistic expectations.

Demolishing a living space can be exciting, but the process of rebuilding and remaking can be stressful at times. Why? Well, because there are so many moving parts, and you’re probably not a remodeling expert.

This is why reality car building shows are so popular to car fans. It lets them see into the process, peer behind the curtain into the garage where the granular, specific, day-to-day transformation work is done in a curated fashion. Often for the actual people investing large sums into a custom or completely restored car or truck, however, they only see the end result in one big ‘Surprise!’ moment.

At Robbins, we make sure homeowners are fully aware of what to expect every step of the way. From initial design and demolition to the daily work as each part of the puzzle is put in place. Yes, the results are going to be outstanding, but there’s a lot of work and decisions to be made to get there.

Lesson #2: Open, Daily & Weekly Communication Is Key

In the beginning, our communication with homeowners was less structured and far too informal. We learned really quickly that just being skilled and doing impeccable work isn’t enough. The vast majority of homeowners want regular updates, consistent communication with people in charge, and peace of mind.

This is why our project management process includes:

  • Daily communication via email, text, or phone with your project manager.
  • A visit to the job site by the project manager at least once every workday.
  • At least one face-to-face meeting per week with your project manager.

So every day of every week, you’re up to speed. You’re in the loop. Together with our next lesson, stress is kept to a minimum.

Lesson #3: Everyone Will Use Their Online Project Portal

There’s nothing revolutionary about our online portal. We just realized we needed to give you a place to go around the clock to see key documents/files. From ongoing job photos and contact information to all the important resources we offer, it’s an easy, secure, accessible, and private method you’re comfortable with.

Lesson #4: Adhere To A Strict ‘Resolve It’ Approach

These days there are just too many substandard contractors who will do anything to lighten their load, play the blame game, or leave people hanging.

The truth is any little issues left undone, no matter how seemingly small they may be, will not only haunt you but build over time and overwhelm your company. We don’t duck and dodge anything that arises during projects for this very reason.

Instead, we tackle the details with precision and focus and resolve unforeseen issues as they pop up. That’s our way, and it’s served our clients and us well.
