Honestly, we love porches in this part of the country! What’s better than a cool summer or a brisk fall evening sipping a beverage with your pals outside?

These days it’s common for us to do home construction work for professionals who’ve moved to the Greater Memphis area for their careers. It’s a growing spot!
Once they get here, they often want to fix up their house to either a) raise an expanding family or b) become more social and do more outdoor entertaining (or both)!
We just finished a project for a doctor, in fact.
- We removed the old deck on his new home because it wasn’t functional enough.
- Then we installed high-quality composite decking with a redwood finish.
- And a cozy, nice-sized screened porch to go with it.
- The area has its own big ceiling fan and a grooved ceiling.
- For an added treat, we built a little raised bar by their swimming pool.
The best part is that all the upgrades and especially the porch have been done in such a way as they seem natural to the house.
We work hard to ensure we integrate the new with the old so it looks perfect and complimentary.

Surely they got an outdoor grill, or at least a smoker for the Fall?

We wouldn’t let the good doctor and his family go without. He was well aware of our dedication to SEC football around here (at that time we were rooting for AL).
You’ve GOT to have an outdoor gas grill, so we designed a rustic outdoor kitchen area on top of stamped concrete. We built a roof for it and laid down some beautiful stone veneer that helped bring all the natural elements together.
When it comes to porches, they take a fair amount of planning, design work, and preparation, but they really make homelife far more enjoyable.
